Pre Development and Conceptual Meetings
Prior to any development or redevelopment, applicants are encouraged to contact City staff and schedule a Conceptual Review Meeting. The Conceptual Review Meeting is intended to provide applicants and developers general information regarding the development review process and applicable design guidelines for a future project in the community. This informal meeting is intended to promote a smooth review and approval process. The is no fee for a Conceptual Review Meeting. To request such meeting, please contact the City's Zoning Administrator, Andy Harrington, at 231-924-2101, or via email at zoning@fremontmi.gov.
If interested in a Conceptual Review Meeting, the following should be provided at the time of the Meeting: - Location of planned/proposed development - Existing Use - Intended use of property (residential, office, retail, manufacturing, etc.) - Preliminary sketch of site plan (please include size and location of planned building(s), drives, and parking areas) - Proposed timeline for development, including review process and construction - Any specific questions for staff At the meeting, City Staff will review and and discuss the following: - Review the proposed use for general conformance with the Joint Zoning Ordinance - Provide initial feedback on the conceptual site plan drawings - Identify the correct process (site plan review, special land use, variance(s) as may be needed, etc.) and provide guidance on applicable process and timeline for review process. - Answer any additional questions the applicant may have relating to development/redevelopment within the City of Fremont.
