Poverty / Hardship Exemption

Poverty / Hardship Exemption Forms are for 1-year exemptions from a portion of property taxes and must be requested every year. The Board of Review considers all requests for Poverty / Hardship Exemptions.

To be considered for this exemption, you must:
  1. Have an income less than or equal to the Federal Guidelines for the Poverty Income Level Poverty Exempt Guidelines 2015 (PDF)
  2. Complete a form requesting this exemption and supply the necessary documents to support your request Homestead Hardship Application (PDF)
Supporting documentation for your request includes: State and Federal Income Tax Returns, Income and Expense statements and their supporting verification documents. Some people may only qualify 1 year and not the next, but in order to be considered they must reapply annually in the month of March.
